OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - On average, Nebraska homeowners pay the lowest mortgage payments in the nation.
LendingTree, which runs an online market for mortgages and other loans, says Nebraska homeowners paid $711 per month for their mortgages, on average over the past year.
The average Nebraska payment beat out Arkansas' $715 and Iowa's $717 averages for the lowest payment in the nation.
LendingTree says Washington D.C. is home to the highest average mortgage payment of $1,641. Hawaii has the second-highest payments of $1,536, and California ranks third at $1,445 per month.
