Postal Service is bracing for big boost in holiday mail volume
Thanks in part to so many Nebraskans buying things online on Cyber Monday that'll be shipped to their homes, the U-S Postal Service is projecting a 20-percent increase in package mail volume for the final weeks of the year. Richard Watkins, the Nebraska spokesman for the Postal Service, says that's a welcome boost in business.

First Class mail volumes have fallen in recent years but people still enjoy getting those holiday greeting cards, Watkins says, because you can't put an email greeting on the mantel or on the refrigerator door.
The U-S Postal Service is expecting people to ship 65-million more packages during this holiday season compared to a year ago, an increase of 20-percent. Richard Watkins, the Nebraska spokesman for the Postal Service, says December 17th is expected to be the busiest mail sorting day of the year as it's the final Monday before Christmas week. Watkins says many thousands of Nebraskans are still exchanging holiday greeting cards.
