For the fourth time in the past five months, the monthly Mid-American Business Conditions Index remained below growth neutral.

For the fourth time in the past five months, the monthly Mid-American Business Conditions Index remained below growth neutral. Creighton University Economist Dr. Ernie Goss conducts the monthly Business Conditions Index and says November numbers came in at 48.0 from 46.5 in October.

Dr. Goss says the index continues to point to slightly negative growth for the region, which includes Nebraska, for the next three to six months.

The Mid-America Business Conditions Index remained below growth neutral for the month of November. Creighton University Economist Dr. Ernie Goss conducts the monthly report and says the region's employment gauge moved slightly above growth neutral for November, 50.5 compared to October's 47.7.

 Goss; "was up a bit."

Dr. Goss says the confidence report plummeted to 43.5 from October's 58.0. He says both the fiscal cliff and the uncertainty surrounding healthcare reform were reported as negatively affecting the economy.

 


The "help wanted" sign in nine states that are part of the Mid-American Business Conditions Index may be few and far between in the next few months. That according to Dr. Ernie Goss, Creighton University Economist.

 Goss; "the next year."

The Mid-America Business Conditions Index remained below growth neutral for the month of November. There are nine states in the Mid-America region including Nebraska.
