Julesburg Fire responded to the scene to find the home of Steve and Wendy Meyers fully engulfed in flames

At approximately 11:45 p.m. January 16 the Sedgwick County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a house fire in the 200 block of East 4th St in Julesburg.  Julesburg Fire responded to the scene to find the home of Steve and Wendy Meyers fully engulfed in flames.  Mutual aid was requested from the Ovid and Big Springs Fire Departments.  Deputies on the scene reported the fire had spread to  a second home occupied by Krissy Thode and her two children. The four occupants of the Meyer home were taken to Sedgwick County Memorial Hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation and released.  Ms. Thode and her children were able to leave their homes without injury.   One fireman was also treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.  Residents in the area of the fire were evacuated from their homes as a safety precaution.   The cause of the fires is unknown at this time.
