Ogallala, NE – January 14, 2013 – An Emergency Conservation Program Signup period has been approved for Keith and Arthur County producers affected by fires in August and October of 2012. This signup has begun and will run through February 5, 2013. Producers in the areas affected are encouraged to contact the Keith Arthur FSA Office to enroll and learn more about this program.
The Keith Arthur FSA Committee was authorized to implement ECP for all disasters except drought. The COC determined the practices to be eligible due to the fires would be EC3 – fencing in both Keith and Arthur County and EC5 – Wind erosion and EC8 – windbreaks and shelterbelts in Keith County. ECP participants may receive cost-share assistance of up to 75 percent of the cost to implement the approved emergency conservation practices. Conservation problems existing before the applicable disaster event are ineligible for ECP assistance. Technical assistance will be provided by the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS).
