It is always good to be prepared. With the flu at epidemic proportions in some locations University of Nebraska Medical Center professor of infectious disease Dr. Mark Rupp says it is a good idea to pick up a few things and have them on hand if the flu bug strikes you.
Mark Rupp, UNMC, professor of Infectious Disease; "important as well."
Dr. Rupp says having these items on hand could make a big difference because you won't feel like heading to the store to get them and you should self quarantine anyway to keep others safe. Dr. Rupp says this flu hits fast and furious. You may feel fine in the morning and by noon are heading home and into bed.
As more people come down with the flu, University of Nebraska Medical Center professor of infectious disease Dr. Mark Rupp encourages all Nebraskans to have a flu survival kit ready at home. He says if you live with others it is a good idea to keep to yourself to prevent it from spreading to others.
Rupp; "in the family."
Dr. Rupp says that survival kit should include pain relief and fever reducing medication like Tylenol, throat lozenges, your favorite non-alcoholic beverage and lots of tissues.
It is almost like adding insult to injury. University of Nebraska Medical Center professor of infectious disease Dr. Mark Rupp says those who are on the downside of a case of flu could get hit with another punch.
Rupp; "repertory tract."
Dr. Rupp says a trip to the doctor is then likely needed for antibiotics. He also suggests packing a home flu survival kit that includes Tylenol, throat lozenges, your favorite non-alcoholic beverage and lots of tissues.... and the remote control doesn't hurt.
