The Farm Bureau Federation of Nebraska would like to meet with Governor Dave Heineman and discuss his plan to eliminate state income tax. President Dave Nelson says that discussion needs to include the issue of property tax as well.

Nelson says cutting income taxes but offsetting that with increased property taxes would be counter productive. He says the Ag sector has kept Nebraska's economy in good shape compared to the rest of the nation.
Governor Dave Heineman hopes to eliminate the state's income tax in an effort to promote job growth. Dave Nelson is president of the Farm Bureau Federation - Nebraska who says they would like to join in the discussion and add property tax to the equation.
Nelson; "in the state works."
Nelson says since property tax financially supports the state's education system, that also needs to be included in the discussion.
The Farm Bureau Federation - Nebraska wants to be included in discussions regarding a plan to eliminate the state's income tax. President Dave Nelson says right now the state sales tax works but does need adjusting.
Nelson; "lot of sense."
Nelson says farmers and ranchers will suffer if property tax is not included in state tax plan.
