Senator Johanns will not run for re-election. Johanns startled Nebraska today with the news that he would retire once his term expires in 2014. Johanns tells reporters he has served 32 years in eight different public offices. . .

Johanns, a Republican, is 63. He has served as mayor of Lincoln, Nebraska governor, United States Secretary of Agriculture and in the United States Senate.


Senator Johanns has decided against running for re-election.
Johanns, a Republican, denies health reasons played a role in his decision...though he admits that a few years ago he had the scare of his life. . .

Johanns, a Republican, moved from mayor of Lincoln to governor of Nebraska. He became Secretary of Agriculture under President George W. Bush and then was elected to the Untied States Senate in 2008.


Senator Johanns says he had pondered ending his career in public office for some time, but only recently decided to leave the Senate.
