The Broken Bow City Council has approved a financing plan to aid construction of a hotel and convention center

BROKEN BOW, Neb. (AP) - The Broken Bow City Council has approved a financing plan to aid construction of a hotel and convention center.

Radio station KCNI reports (http://bit.ly/15Mo7nN) that the council on Tuesday approved tax-increment funding, which allows the city to use property tax revenue in once-blighted or undeveloped areas to pay for incentives or underwrite infrastructure improvements.

Custer Economic Development President Melissa Garcia says the Cobblestone Hotel & Suites will have 36 rooms, an indoor pool and hot tub. A 500-person capacity convention center will be attached to the hotel.

Garcia says the hotel and convention center will bring 10 new jobs to the area.

If weather doesn't hold up construction, the facility should be functional by the end of October.
