LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A consultant has again recommended that Lincoln put more money in the city police and fire pension fund to help offset investment losses.

It's the fourth year in a row that the recommendation has been made so the fund can recover from the effects of the Great Recession.

The pension fund has contributions by police and fire employees and the city. It covers about 460 retirees or spouses. About 600 current employees will be covered eventually.

The city's "funded ratio," which is a measure of pension health, dropped below 80 percent in 2012.
