The Nebraska Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition was chosen to be the recipient of funds from a settlement between the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office and Lender Processing Services, Inc. Lender Processing Services, Inc. was accused of engaging in the unlawful practice of foreclosing on homeowners in 46 states. They have agreed to pay $121 million to resolve the claims.
The settlement funds granted to Nebraska total $820,190.00. The funds were distributed by Attorney General Jon Bruning and Chief of Staff Holley Bolen to the Nebraska Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition in Lincoln, NE on March 1st for dissemination to the Coalition and the 21 domestic violence and sexual assault direct service programs. Sandhills Crisis Intervention Program which provides assistance to victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and other forms of interpersonal violence received a portion of the settlement. Services provided by the program include: 24-hour crisis line access; emergency shelter; legal referrals and assistance with protection order applications; transportation; medical advocacy and referrals; education and prevention programs; and ongoing crisis support and advocacy.
