Local author Wayne Dundee joins us to talk about how he got into writing, his books, and his life. John and Josh also talk a bit more about remembering 9/11, emergency responders, volunteers, and more.
Wayne Dundee has been writing all his life. Though, he admits, most of his projects were started but never finished. After working in manufacturing for many years, Wayne finished a story. It was a short story featuring Private Investigator Joe Hannibal. Since then, it's been a flood of work, most of it coming in the past few years since his retirement, and passing of his beloved wife, Pam.
While critics have praised Wayne's Hannibal books, he didn't begin to get widespread attention until he delved into the western genre. In his westerns, readers follow well-defined characters through riveting plots while all the while being exposed to the rich history of the High Plains. Wayne is able to keep the reader enthralled with the characters and plots, without "beating them over the head" with history while still providing the historically-accurate backdrop of a time and place from history.
Wayne Dundee has really settled into his "new life" as an author, and isn't looking to slow down any time soon. Now that he has the time, Wayne seems to be releasing books faster than his readers can read them all.
Wayne Dundee will be taking part in the "Ask The Author" event at Mid-Plains Community College's new facility (south of Interstate 80, behind Taco Bell/KFC, in Ogallala) at 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 18. He will also be holding a book signing at 8am on Friday, September 21, at the Goodall City Library in Ogallala. Wayne says most of his books are available at Hoke's Book Store in downtown Ogallala, or people can find them on Amazon. Wayne also encourages people to keep up with all the latest by checking out his blog.
