For years, we've had conversations with author Patricia Bremmer when she releases a new book.  It's something we've become quite fond of.  A few times, she's even brought in one of her main characters in her books - former Detective Glen Karst.

Patti always offers priceless insight into her process of writing a book - from creating/channeling characters to designing/funneling plots.  She shares details of how her books "come to her".  It's always an intriguing conversation.

Today, Patti spoke about her experiences with psychic ability.  Her latest book is "Psychic Gene", which follows the niece of Jennifer Parker (a recurring fictional character in her Elusive Clue Series - a psychic that assists Detective Glen Karst in solving some of the mysteries) as she wrestles with a special gift.  Shayne Nicole Hartley doesn't always see her psychic ability as a gift, though.  It becomes tougher and tougher for her to accept as she moves through adolescence.  Then, a friend's family crisis calls for Shayne's help.  And she rises to the occasion.

So, how much of the plot comes from Patti's own life?  Probably more than she'll admit, though she admits there's some autobiographical aspects of Shayne.  From being young and hearing her mother tell her about things that will happen, to being a mom and knowing when her daughter is pregnant, before the expecting mother knows, the psychic realm is one in which Patti resides - even if only temporarily.  Her insight into many things is inspiring.  Her willingness to open up when confronted with somewhat personal questions regarding her history with psychic abilities and her processes as a writer are encouraging and intriguing.
