Rodney Howe and two young students from Ogallala talk about the Recycle Rally Progress Elementary is heading up. John and Josh also debate some topics from the Vice Presidential debate.
Ogallala Public Schools took part in the Dream Machine Recycle Rally last year, finishing 13th in the nation which afforded a $1,000 award to the district. Rodney Howe, who works at Progress Elementary, led the effort with the help of many - including some local businesses, organization and U.S. Recycling.
This year, Rodney and the kids got off to a bit earlier start and are already ranked #4 on the leader-board. Rodney brought Cedric and Mason Knudsen to the studio this morning to discuss this year's rally. Bins are again set up behind the Ogallala Auditorium, across the street from the Middle School. Rodney says people can also drop their items off at Progress Elementary, the "headquarters" of this year's project. The community is being encouraged to take their recyclables (specifically plastics and aluminum) to those locations and help the district earn more money for special projects in the district.
Progress Elementary is also, again, participating in the pop tab collection to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. You can take your aluminum can tabs to Progress Elementary and help them toward their goal of being included in the organization's million tab club.
